Your Local Area

We work closely with local people to provide the best services that we possibly can to meet local needs.

We have area offices that serve all three areas of Westmorland and Furness. Local staff work alongside Locality Boards and local Councillors as well as with local councils, local partnerships, community and voluntary groups. Colleagues working from these offices are there to make sure we work closely with local people to provide the best services that we possibly can to meet local needs.

Our community development and engagement work includes:

  • helping community groups through support from officers and local Councillors
  • arranging meetings to bring individuals, groups and organisations together
  • helping local groups to take part in larger funding schemes, visit our Community fund page
  • enabling groups to organise themselves more effectively
  • organising public meetings to tackle local issues
  • providing a point of contact and a place to develop ideas
  • helping local groups to work effectively with local partnerships
  • distributing small grants
  • helping local projects supported by the council's Locality Boards
  • helping to identify local needs and wishes through a variety of consultation methods
  • helping to create equal opportunities to support isolated and disadvantaged
