Other ways to dispose of your waste

If your items can be reused, you should consider other ways of disposing of your items, such as donating them to a local charity shop or reuse organisation.

Charities and charity shops

Some charity shops accept furniture and large white goods.

Certain items of furniture, usually sofas and chairs, should have a fire safety label attached. Charities may not accept these if they do not have a label – you should check before you try to donate.

Barrow Domestic Appliances

Barrow Domestic Appliances are a domestic reuse charity (charity number 1184374). They accept donations of large and small appliances, working and non-working. However, they cannot accept non-working refrigerators or freezers.

The charity covers the Barrow and South Cumbria area and offers a free collection service. Contact the service to arrange a collection.
