How to donate your old furniture and appliances

Information about local services that can reuse your unwanted items.

Charities and charity shops

Some charity shops accept furniture and large white goods.

Certain items of furniture, usually sofas and chairs, should have a fire safety label attached. Charities may not accept these if they do not have a label – you should check before you try to donate.

Barrow Domestic Appliances

Barrow Domestic Appliances are a domestic reuse charity (charity number 1184374). They accept donations of large and small appliances, working and non-working. However, they cannot accept non-working refrigerators or freezers.

The charity covers the Barrow and South Cumbria area and offers a free collection service. Contact Barrow Domestic Appliances on Facebook to arrange a collection.
