About the cemetery
Grasmere Cemetery opened in 1890 with its first burial on the 31st of October. It is a quiet rural cemetery a short walk out of the village centre. Most of the site is consecrated with a small unconsecrated section.
There are very few facilities with the field shelter only offering a slight bit of cover from weather when visiting. The stone store is used by the council's contractor.
Opening hours
The cemetery is open from dawn until dusk, 365 days per year.
Parking facilities
Parking is available on the roadside close to the Cemetery along Pye Lane. Vehicles are not permitted within the cemetery.
Layout
Although the site is small, if you are looking for a specific grave, we recommend speaking with the Kendal Bereavement Services office who will be happy to provide details of the grave's location. We advise you do this as soon as possible as we regret, we can not always answer queries immediately.
