Telephone numbers

Numbers should be grouped into the area code or the first five digits, followed by groupings of three digits. For example, 01234 567 891 or 07234 987 654. 

However, memorable numbers can be grouped into fewer digits. For example, 0800 08 08 08.

You should also: 

• show the standard UK code, beginning with a zero and not +44
• use telephone: and mobile: when listing the number. Do not use tel or mob
• use a tel: link. This can be added in the code (e.g. <tel:01234567891>) or the link option when entering text using the content management system 

Do not use brackets around the area code or at any other point in the telephone number. 

If you need to include option information, enter this as text after the number in brackets. For example, 01234 56789 (option 2).
