What we’ve been up to…
On 8th September, we attended the Upper Eden Practice Roadshow at Kirkby Stephen, where we got to meet colleagues from across the 3rd sector, Council and NHS to share information about our respective services. The following weekend, we were invited to attend Clifton Primary School’s PTA Autumn event. We were on hand to provide information to families, as well as the ever-important glitter tattoos and bottle of bubbles.
The first joint Family Hubs/Cumbria Wildlife Trust After School Nature Club took place this month, following our successful trial over the summer holiday. A huge thank you to Ami Stidolph and the rest of the CWT team for all their efforts. Despite the weather, we had a great turnout from children of all ages, who really enjoyed the chance to be out in the beautiful Cold Springs nature reserve. In addition to our regular events in Penrith, we’re delighted to now be able to provide events in Appleby and Kirkby Stephen Family Hubs, including Chill, Chat and Play, Little Bookworms and Sing, Sign and Rhyme. We have recently re-ordered our Hub within the Local Links building in Kirkby Stephen, making it far more user-friendly. We have also just started running an Infant Feeding Support Group in Alston. If you want advice about breastfeeding or combination feeding, please come along for a chat! Full details of all our activities and events can be found here:
This term, our baby massage sessions are being held at Shap and will be coming to Penrith and Kirkby Thore soon. This group is suitable for babies aged 6 weeks to 6 months and runs for 5 weeks. Please check our events page to see how to book yourself onto these groups.
We continue to run our Family Decider Skills, Diddy, Understanding Your Child Togetherness and Invest In Play sessions. If you would like to know more about any of these sessions, please have a look at our online booking service. Our sessions are held at various locations around Eden and are either virtual or in person.
What we’re looking forward to…
The week commencing 5th October is Kinship Care week. Westmorland and Furness’ Kinship Care team are running an event on 8th October at Caste Green in Kendal and on 9th October in the Family Hub in Penrith to celebrate kinship carers. We will also host a larger event in Penrith on Thursday 29th, including support from professionals and a stay and play craft session for children - more details coming on our Facebook page soon. Our winter coat event is being held at Penrith Family Hub on Friday 30th and Saturday 31st October. This sustainable event will be an opportunity for families to come along and choose a preloved coat/s for their children as the colder weather creeps in. Please drop off any donations at the Hub prior to these dates.
