Furness Education Trust is a multi-academy trust based in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria serving the Furness community, located near the centre of the historic shipbuilding town, we are close to the southern boundary of the Lake District National Park. Currently comprised of seven schools including Furness Academy, Walney School and five primary schools, the Trust aims to develop best practice by collaborating and working together to give the best of everything to every child.
We are looking to appoint a highly skilled and enthusiastic individual to work within the Science Department. The successful candidate will support the use and maintenance of practical resources and facilities to deliver the needs of the Science curriculum.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
• Prepare, maintain and co-ordinate the use of practical resources and facilities to ensure that the varied needs of the students are met.
• Contribute to the assessment, monitoring and review of health and safety procedures and make sure materials (including hazardous substances), are used safely and disposed of appropriately in order to maintain a healthy and safe working environment.
• Support the design, development and maintenance of specialist resources and contribute to long term projects to ensure that the widest science curriculum possible can be offered to students.
• Help to maintain up to date records of stock.
• Ensure that both routine and non-routine checking, cleaning, maintenance, calibration, testing and repairing of equipment is undertaken to ensure that the required standards are adhered to.
• Ensure the maintenance of a clean and orderly working environment.
• Undertake simple repairs as directed and report damage to senior staff.
• Provide clerical and administrative support, e.g. photocopying, printing, desktop publishing and display work.
