Due to an increase in pupil numbers, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team at Plumpton School. The children and governors are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to work primarily in our Early Years classroom in addition to supporting all pupils at lunch times.

Start Date: Monday 1st September 2026

 

Role Overview:
The role will be part-time – 17.5 Hours a week (12pm – 3:30pm), term time only. Initially for one year, depending on pupil numbers.

PCD5 £25,989 pro rata (hourly rate £13.47)

We are looking for a practitioner who is kind, caring and enthusiastic to join friendly and hardworking team. We believe that playing is the best way to learn so you need to be imaginative, creative and full of enthusiasm to help our children explore the EYFS curriculum creatively. Our Early Years children love to be outside so someone who loves all aspects of our Cumbrian weather would be ideal!

Job description:
• Supervising all children during lunch breaks while eating
• Supervising all children outdoors at lunchtime break
• Deliver high-quality care and learning opportunities
• Observe, assess and plan for children’s next steps
• Using knowledge of systematic synthetic phonics
• Follow all safeguarding, health and safety and statutory requirements

We are looking for someone who:
• Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 NVQ qualification in supporting teaching and learning or equivalent
• Has relevant experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school setting
• Has strong literacy and numeracy skills
• Can use initiative and work effectively as part of a team
• Is flexible and prepared to work in other classrooms
• Is willing to undertake further training in both SEN and in Safeguarding to meet the needs of all our pupils
