North Walney, Barrow-in-Furness

Our scheme to install an active travel route on North Walney, to connect residential areas to key locations and services.

Status:  In construction
Funding: Active Travel Fund 3 (ATF3)
Policy Framework: Barrow-in-Furness Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP)

Project description

We've been awarded funding to develop and deliver a 2.3km route for cycling, walking and wheeling on North Walney, Barrow-in-Furness.

Starting at Earnse Bay, the route follows West Shore and Trent Vale, before running through Vickerstown Park. The route will then rejoin the highway at the Jubilee Bridge junction with the Promenade.

The route provides a continuous, safe, direct and attractive active travel link for the residents of North Walney. It will improve access to the town centre and provide a link to residential areas, schools and the new Earnse Bay Community Hub.
