Proposed changes
The effect of the proposed Order will be to:
- introduce 20 miles per hour speed limits on various roads in the following areas:
- Clifton
- Gamblesby
- Glassonby
- Great Asby
- Greystoke
- Penrith
- Sockbridge and Tirril
- Stainton
- extend the existing 20 miles per hour speed limit on Clifford Road, Penrith
- remove the 30 miles per hour speed limit from various roads, or sections of roads, in:
- Clifton
- Gamblesby
- Great Asby
- Greystoke
- Stainton
- Tirril
- extend the existing 30 miles per hour speed limit on the C3088, Stainton
- introduce 40 miles per hour speed limits on the A6, Clifton

Locality Board decisions
The consultation period for this proposed TRO ended in December 2025. We'll consider all the feedback we received and present it, along with our recommendations, to the Locality Board in January 2026.
