Proposed changes
Introduction of speed limits
The effect of the proposed order will be to introduce 20 miles per hour speed limits in the following areas:
Hawcoat and Newbarns ward
- Dane Ghyll Primary School
- Newbarns Primary School
- St Pauls Junior School and Victoria Infants and Junior Schools
Old Barrow and Hindpool ward
Ramsden Infants School
Risedale and Roosecote ward
Cambridge Primary School
Walney Island ward
- Cows Tarn Lane
- Walney Secondary school
Removal of speed limits
The effect of the proposed order will also be to remove the 30 miles per hour speed limit on Cows Tarn Lane, Barrow-in-Furness.

Locality Board decisions
The consultation period for this proposed TRO ended in December 2025. We'll consider all the feedback we received and present it, along with our recommendations, to the Locality Board in January 2026.
