- comment on an application, where comments are open
- find older (archived) planning records

Barrow area

Eden and South Lakeland areas

Search the planning register to find applications for Eden and South Lakeland
The planning register for Eden and South Lakeland shows applications from 1988 onwards.
We've also published a planning map for the Eden and South Lakeland areas.
Search for planning applications using our map for Eden and South Lakeland
You may see a message for 'welcome to My South Lakeland'. However, this map also covers the Eden area.
National Park areas
If the site is in a National Park, you must use the relevant National Park Authority, rather than us.

Minerals and waste applications
Planning applications for waste and minerals are managed separately.
You must search for minerals and waste planning applications in Cumbria.
Comment on a planning application
You must submit your comments in writing.
We cannot consider comments made by telephone.
To comment online:
- find the application using the planning search tools relevant to the area
- select the option to leave a comment

We publish weekly lists showing:
- new planning applications received
- planning decisions made

If you cannot find an application
Applications may not appear straight away.
New applications will only show once they have been validated. This means we have checked that all required information has been submitted.
If you cannot find an application:
- check you're searching in the correct system
- try searching by reference number, postcode or address
- try using the map to search by location
Archived planning records
Some older applications may not be available online or may not include full documents.
If you have a reference number
Send the reference number to us by email. You can find our email address our contact details at the end of this page.
We'll provide copies where available. This is free unless you request printed copies.
If you do not have a reference number
Contact us with as much detail as possible, such as:
- the site address or nearest address
- the postcode (if known)
- a description or location plan
- approximate dates
We'll search the archives and provide what we can. We charge a fee for this service.
Archive search fees
We charge the following fee for our archive search service:
- applications relating to individual dwellings: £44
- most commercial or large developments: £87
- very complex sites: a pre-agreed fee may apply
