Westmorland and Furness categorises non-school alternative provision in two ways:

• approved providers
• quality assured providers

Approved providers

Approved providers have gone through a commissioning and procurement process to be fully approved by us. These providers are used for any alternative provision placements we commission as a local authority.

Quality assured providers

Quality assured providers are reviewed against the Department for Education Voluntary National Standards for NSAP providers.

We visit these providers every year to check they are:

• offering high quality education 
• keeping children safe and have good safeguarding arrangements
