Local businesses across Westmorland and Furness are being reminded that applications remain open for the third round of Westmorland and Furness Council’s Greening Businesses Scheme.
The initiative once again offers businesses the opportunity to work with the Cumbria Business Environment Network (CBEN) Partnership to help them to understand how to reduce their carbon footprint and cut costs, promoting a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future for their business and the area.

Through this partnership, businesses can access a free carbon footprint assessment of their operations and activities from which they can develop strategies or implement measures to reduce carbon emissions and save costs.

Applications for this round of the Greening Businesses Scheme are open until Sunday 25 October, and small and medium businesses of any sector located in Westmorland and Furness are eligible to apply.

More information including guidance and an application form can be found on the Council’s website.

Councillor John Murray, Cabinet Member for Climate, Biodiversity and Regulatory Services, said:

“Through our partnership with CBEN, we’re offering even more organisations the chance to access free carbon footprint assessments and practical, expert guidance. The scheme continues to play an important role in supporting local businesses while helping our area reduce carbon emissions on our journey toward carbon net zero.

“We have had great interest in this latest round of the scheme and encourage all small and medium sized businesses of any sectors across Westmorland and Furness to take a look and make sure they get their applications in before the deadline closes in a few weeks’ time.

“This is a valuable opportunity to make changes that benefit both the environment and long-term business resilience.”
