Dockray footbridge in Kendal is set to be closed between certain times over seven working days for essential maintenance.
A selection of the anti-slip panels which cover the timber decking on the bridge over the Kent are to be replaced and some minor localised repairs to corroding metalwork undertaken.
The bridge will be closed at the following times:
- Thursday 9 and Friday 10 April between 8am and 5pm.
- Monday 13 to Friday 17 April inclusive, between 9am and 3pm. This is timed such that schoolchildren accessing The Queen Katherine School will not be affected.
Cllr Peter Thornton, Cabinet Member for Highways and ICT, said: "This is a well used and popular link for residents of Kendal and, as always, we have balanced the need for this essential maintenance while keeping disruption to a minimum. We have timed this work to start in the Easter holidays and further work will not impact on pupils going to and from school."
