Work has now completed on a significant refurbishment project at one of Westmorland and Furness Council’s family centres, marking the first phase of a wider improvement project for the site.
This investment saw full refurbishment of the Ormsgill Family Centre building, funded through the Council’s capital programme and supports the Council’s commitment to ensure its assets are of the highest standards for those people who use them. Works also included improved safeguarding and security measures, upgraded facilities, and the installation of new heating and electrical systems.
The second phase of the project will see a neighbouring building demolished which has been vacant for many years and is no longer fit for purpose. This will be replaced with a new soft pore cushioned outdoor play space, expanding the external facilities available to children and families who use this building.
Cllr Janet Battye, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Education and Skills, said:
“I’m really pleased to see the work completed on refurbishing the building for this important service for children and families. By creating a modern, welcoming and safe environment, we are ensuring that this service is meeting national expectations. I look forwarding to visiting it to see for myself!”
