Planned Closure of Kendal Town Hall, South Lakeland House and car park for Essential Electrical Works

Kendal Town Hall entrance

Kendal Town Hall, South Lakeland House and the South Lakeland House car park will be closed on Saturday 15 August and Sunday 16 August to allow essential electrical distribution works to be carried out.

The works will be undertaken by Electricity North West and will require a full isolation of the electrical supply to both buildings. As a result, there will be no power, lighting or electrical services available throughout the closure period.

The planned power shutdown will begin at 8:00am on Saturday 15 August and will remain in place until Electricity North West completes the works. Power is expected to be reinstated on Sunday 16 August; the exact time cannot be confirmed until the works have finished.

Both buildings will be fully locked for the duration of the shutdown and all building users and car park permit holders have been informed.

Cllr Andrew Jarvis, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Finance said:

“These essential works are necessary to ensure the continued safety and resilience of the electrical supply to Kendal Town Hall, South Lakeland House and its car park. We appreciate that the temporary closure may cause some inconvenience, but completing this maintenance will help prevent more serious disruption in the future as we continue to maintain the good quality of our assets.

“Thank you to everyone for their patience and cooperation while the work is carried out.”

The council apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks residents, staff and visitors for their understanding during this essential maintenance period.

Alternative parking is available within the town centre and includes large car parks at Westmorland and Furness Shopping Centre and Kendal County Hall.
