Adults across Westmorland and Furness can access free, anonymous and confidential mental health support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year from 1 April 2026.
Qwell is an interactive digital mental health platform, where users can access a range of support online including:
- Connecting online with qualified professionals via drop in and pre-booked sessions
- Moderated Community support - talking to someone with similar experiences
- Self guided resources - articles and interactive tools
It offers flexible, clinically moderated support designed to reduce barriers to accessing mental health support. The service is free to use with no waiting lists, no referrals and no thresholds, providing immediate access whenever it is needed.
Katrina Stephens, Director of Public Health for Westmorland and Furness says:
“We are delighted to add this accessible support to our preventative health offer. The availability of access to trusted practitioners and evidence based resources will help our residents seek help early, reduce the risk of crises, and build resilience across our communities.”
Councillor Patricia Bell, member for Adult Care and Public Health, says:
“Qwell gives our residents something truly vital; support wherever they are and at whatever time of the day it is needed. By offering free, anonymous help every day of the year, it removes barriers that too often stop people from reaching out. No one should face their struggles alone. “
Mental Health support for those under the age of 18 is available via the Kooth digital platform, which has been available to Westmorland and Furness young people since 2023.
