Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) help our local communities by tackling anti-social behaviour and environmental damage linked to fly-camping, alcohol use, fires or barbecues, and dog fouling.

Who we work with
We work with partner organisations to protect public spaces. Our partners include:

Proposed PSPO locations
The proposed PSPOs cover nine locations including:
- Ambleside - Galava Roman Fort
- Ambleside – Holme Crag
- Hartsop - Brotherswater
- Coniston - Brown Howe
- Haweswater Reservoir
- Ullswater – South Ullswater including Glencoyne and Aira Force
- Ullswater - South Ullswater including Ullswater Steamers land in Glenridding and Jenkin Field in Patterdale
- Ullswater - Laybys and land adjacent lake
- Windermere – Bowness and Millerground including Cockshot Point
Our consultation
We invited people to have their say about the amendments. We accepted feedback by email and by post sent to our freepost address.
The consultation closed on Monday 9 February 2026.
What happens next
We're using the feedback to shape the final version of the Public Space Protection Orders. We'll publish the guidance once it is completed.
