Planting guidance for contractors

Promoting climate-resilient native planting to enhance biodiversity and greener spaces.

Our Contractor guidance document (PDF , 3.3MB) provides detailed advice on selecting, planting and maintaining native trees, shrubs and perennial plants within Westmorland and Furness. Developed to support planting projects on council land, the guidance promotes the use of climate-resilient, wildlife-friendly species that are appropriate to local conditions.

The guidance includes species recommendations, planting considerations, maintenance advice and biosecurity guidance. It is a valuable resource for contractors, partners, landscape designers and project managers involved in developing planting schemes that support biodiversity, climate resilience and long-term environmental benefits.
