Noise nuisance: DIY

People may not be able to do DIY during the day due to work commitments, so may need to use evenings or weekends. To keep disturbance to a minimum:

carry out noisy activities like hammering and drilling at reasonable times
consider your neighbours' personal circumstances, for example if they have young children they'll have a greater need for peace and quiet in the early evening
be aware that work on the party wall or floor between properties can cause surprising levels of noise
discuss with your neighbours what noisy jobs you need to do and how long it should take
if it's a long-term project, ensure your neighbours are given some respite from noisy activities, including for some weekends and evenings
