Before you submit a claim:
- check that you meet the criteria
- you have all your supporting documents
If you do not provide the right supporting documents with your application it could delay you receiving your reduction.
How to claim
You'll need to claim in the area you live in.
Barrow
You can either:
- make a claim using the Barrow area benefits calculator
- collect an application form from any of our offices
- call or email us and ask us to send an application form to you by post

South Lakeland
You must make a claim in writing for Council Tax Reduction. This can be done by either:
- using the South Lakeland area benefits calculator
- collecting an application form from any of our offices
- calling or emailing us and ask us to send an application form to you by post

If you need help claiming benefits
If you need help claiming benefits or a reduction or advice we offer a visiting service providing you are unable to call at the Customer Services in person due to:
- illness
- bereavement
- disability
- being classed as being a vulnerable person
The visiting officer can also check or collect any documents required in connection with your Benefit claim or for Council Tax Reduction purposes.
