We take most items including some hazardous waste. Items include:

- car batteries
- household batteries
- books
- cans and tins
- cardboard
- CD's and DVD's
- chemicals like, weedkiller (on arrival report to the site staff with these items)
- clothes and textiles mixed
- fluorescent tubes
- foil
- fridges and freezers
- garden waste
- gas bottles
- general household waste
- glass bottles and jars mixed
- hardcore and rubble
- Plasterboard, please call first to see if we have space
- large appliances
- newspapers and magazines
- paint and dry empty metal paint cans
- plastics
- scrap metal
- small appliances
- TV's and monitors
- tyres
- upholstered seating
- used engine oil
- wood and timber

- trade waste
- clinical wastes
- acetylene
- boat flares
- car air bags
- fireworks
Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) permits
Our HWRCs are just for householders to use. The permit scheme makes sure that no trade waste is taken there.
If you're walking to one of our sites you'll need a pedestrian permit so we can keep you safe.

Other HWRCs across Cumbria
You can use any HWRC in Cumbria, wherever you live. You can visit sites at Millom, Frizington, Workington, Maryport, Wigton, Carlisle and Brampton, for more information go to the Cumberland Council website.
