Street trading licences

When you need to get a licence and how to get a licence to trade on the street and other public spaces and how to make an application.

Street trading licences

If you're selling things in a street, a public place, or private land where the public has free access you'll need a street trading licence.

This includes selling:

  • from a vehicle, van, kiosk, stall, or movable cart on a public street or road
  • on private property if the public can access the area without paying an entry fee
  • outside a shop or cafe displaying goods or putting tables and chairs on the pavement

The way to get a licence is different depending on where in Westmorland and Furness you want to trade. You can use the postcode finder to work out which area is the one you need to apply for.
