Free Holiday Activities and Food programme returning for summer 2026

Holiday Activities and Food

Families across Westmorland and Furness can once again look forward to free activities, nutritious meals and fun experiences for children and young people during the school holidays through the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme.

Funded by the Department for Education and delivered locally by Westmorland and Furness Council, the HAF programme provides eligible children who receive means-tested free school meals with access to free holiday clubs packed with activities, learning opportunities and healthy food. Sessions are designed to help children stay active, build confidence, make friends and try new experiences during the school holidays.

Activities available through HAF include sports, arts and crafts, music, drama, science sessions, cooking activities and creative learning, all delivered by experienced schools, community groups and youth organisations. Children can attend up to 16 days of activities during the summer holidays and four days during the winter programme.
