Amendment to the South Lakeland District Grouping Order 2003

Have your say on the transfer of property and assets to Egton-with-Newland, Mansriggs and Osmotherley Common Parish Council.

On 24 February 2003, we made a Grouping Order. This was after an application from the Parish Meeting of Egton-with-Newland, and the Parish Meeting of Manriggs and Osmotherley.

It abolished the Egton-with-Newland Parish Council and the Mansriggs and Osmotherley Parish Council. It created a new Common Parish Council: Egton-with-Newland, Mansriggs and Osmotherley.

The 2003 order included the transfer of assets and liabilities to the respective Parish Meetings or Trustees of the Parishes. These are separate from the Common Parish Council.

In 2023, the Common Parish Council and the Parish Meetings agreed to request an amendment to the order. This would transfer assets, liabilities and other responsibilities to the Common Parish Council.

We have outlined a Draft Varied Order (PDF , 198KB) for this amendment.
