Become a Shared Lives carer

Provide life-changing support to someone with additional needs, around your family and lifestyle.

We're recruiting
Share your heart and your home, become a Shared Lives carer

Shared Lives is a care and support scheme where you can help adults develop their independence within the community. You'll help them thrive and achieve their goals through various methods of care.

You'll provide support from the comfort of your own home and receive a paid allowance for your dedication. Carers are matched with adults who have the same hobbies and interests to get the best experience for all involved.

It’s flexible, rewarding work with the opportunity to earn up to £779 a week, tax free.

Carer requirements and pay

You do not have to have experience of care work to be a Shared Lives carer. All our carers go through an assessment process before being approved which will indicate the level of support you might need or the training you require. Your scheme worker will help you through this.

You can offer support to an individual who needs it for a few hours a week, right through to offering accommodation and support in your own home for weekend stays, holidays or long-term live-in arrangements, with the support of the Shared Lives scheme.

Rates of pay

Long term: up to £687 per week.

Respite: up to £779 per week.

Day support: £11.70 to £12.70 per hour.

Shared Lives is part of the Local Authority and is CQC registered. All carers are assessed to be approved carers and paid an allowance for the support they provide.
