Summer Reading Challenge 2024

Join us as we get into reading, get creative and fire up our imaginations to enjoy a whole new Summer Reading Challenge.

This year the theme is “Marvellous Makers”.

For more information visit the Reading Agency's Summer Reading Challenge website.

Signing up is free, you just need to be a library member which is also free.

The Summer Reading Challenge begins 13 July and ends mid September, so there is plenty of time to get involved. Read whatever you like over the summer holidays to receive incentives and a certificate once you have completed the challenge.

Audiobooks and eBooks can all be used to complete the challenge and our Libraries Borrowbox service is a great way to get free access to eBooks and eAudiobooks for the challenge. Digital Offer: eBooks, magazine, comics and newspapers.

Please hand in completed application forms to your local library: Find a library near you.

This is is a fantastic opportunity for volunteers to be part of a team, building confidence and developing creative skills as they talk to children about the books they've read and help staff with activities both online and in the library.

We provide training before the challenge starts and keep a record of all the hours completed. If volunteers are working towards a Duke of Edinburgh award or similar, their logged hours can contribute towards it.

For more information contact your local library or complete the library contact form.
