Dozens of council apprenticeship vacancies are now live and accepting applicants.

There's a variety of roles available in areas across the council, such as in care, finance, legal and more.

Applicants must apply by Friday 18 August to be invited to Westmorland and Furness Council's first apprenticeship recruitment day.

To attend the event, interested candidates should go to Westmorland and Furness Council’s jobs vacancies webpage and search for apprenticeship opportunities, and complete and return the simple application form.

Anyone who is shortlisted will receive an invitation to the recruitment day with full details of the event.

As part of the recruitment day, which will take place on Wednesday 30 August in Kendal, prospective apprentices will:

  • find out about the apprenticeship from the Apprenticeship Team i.e., study days, mentor support and employee benefits,

  • find out about the job, the team and the service from managers and mentors,

  • take part in a short, informal interview.

Those who start work for Westmorland and Furness Council through the apprenticeship scheme will earn while they learn and receive one-on-one mentor support. The apprenticeship scheme provides knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications that will open doors to future careers.

Cllr Sue Sanderson, Westmorland and Furness Council Cabinet Member for Children's Services, Education and Skills, said:

“We are looking to enrol dozens of new apprentices in roles such as Health and Social Care, Customer Service, Accountancy and Business Support. As well as excellent work experience with service professionals the scheme also provides learners with a nationally recognised qualification and additional training and support.

“If you or someone you know is interested, apply before 18 August to receive an invitation to the recruitment day where you’ll find out more about the role and the fantastic opportunities available through the scheme.”
