In Westmorland and Furness Council we are committed to making our area a child friendly place and one that respects children’s rights. Can you play your part?
We will be running a programme over the next couple of years to help us have a real focus on this and will involve asking children, young people and other stakeholders views about how child friendly our area is currently and what we need to improve.
We're launching our Child Friendly Community project with a special event on 30th October 2025 and we need a logo to match our ambition!
Who can enter?
Any child or young person can enter (under 18 or under 25 with SEND).
Any medium can be used (drawing, painting, sculpting - anything!).
Entries to be emailed to rightsandparticipation@cumbria.gov.uk by 19th September 2025.
The winning entry will be selected by a group of children and young people shortly after the closing date.
Councillor Janet Battye Cabinet Member for Children’s Services said: ‘ The Child Friendly Community project is getting underway in our area, and we want young people to play a big part in how it rolls out. If you’re creative and fancy trying to design our logo, we’d love to hear from you. Be creative and have fun!’
Mil Vasic, Director of Children’s Services said: ‘Our ambition is that all children live safe, healthy, and happy lives here in our beautiful part of the world. This means the best logo designs will link and relate to children being safe, healthy, and happy in Westmorland and Furness.’
