Westmorland and Furness Council has partnered with SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, to offer confidential drop-in sessions for veterans, serving personnel and their families.

The drop-in events, offering practical, financial and emotional support, will take place at Penrith Library, St Andrews Churchyard, Penrith CA11 7YA, from 2pm to 4pm on the first and third Wednesday of each month, starting 1 October 2025.

SSAFA is a trusted source of assistance for the Armed Forces community, offering guidance and support in times of need. Whether you are seeking advice or simply want someone to talk to, these drop-in sessions provide a welcoming and confidential space to get help.

Cllr Vicky Hughes, Westmorland and Furness Council’s Cabinet Member for Planning, Active Wellbeing and the Armed Forces, said:

“We are proud to work with SSAFA to ensure our Armed Forces community in Westmorland and Furness has access to the support they deserve. These sessions are a vital resource for anyone who has served, is serving or is supporting a loved one in the Armed Forces.”
