Members of the public and businesses are being urged to help shape the future vision for the area's economy.
Westmorland and Furness Council is developing its first economic growth strategy, focused on supporting inclusive and green economic growth across the area.
The strategy will build on existing policies and plans in Westmorland and Furness, as well as wider national and regional strategies, including the Cumbria Economic Strategy – Going for Growth.
It will set out a future vision for the area's economy and will account for the varying opportunities, challenges and strengths, across our different towns and rural areas.
Views are sought from residents and the business community, on the priorities and actions, in the draft strategic framework, which will form the basis of the strategy.
Cllr Jonathan Brook, Leader of Westmorland and Furness Council and Cabinet Member for the Economy, said: "Westmorland and Furness’s future depends on a strong economy, which generates wealth and high-quality jobs and sustains services. Since Westmorland and Furness Council was formed much work has been done to ensure that we can support and help develop a strong, vibrant and diverse economy, driven by cutting edge advanced manufacturing, tourism, agriculture and food production.
"Our economic growth strategy will be a key part of our support, and it is imperative that local views and insight, inform what we do. I urge anybody with an interest in the future of Westmorland and Furness to take part in this survey."
The draft strategic framework includes our vision: "Inspired by our communities, businesses and outstanding natural environment, Westmorland and Furness will foster a diverse, thriving, inclusive and sustainable economy, building strong connections, between vibrant and enterprising places and ensuring everyone benefits from prosperity and opportunity."
Draft priorities are based around the themes of people, business and place.
