Westmorland and Furness Council’s Penrith office at Voreda House will re-open after flooding on Monday (22 September).
Thanks to a huge effort from staff and contractors the doors will be open to the public from 9am (until the regular closing time of 5pm).
The building had to close on Wednesday after an overnight leak caused significant damage to the first floor and limited areas of the ground floor.
The reception area, customer interview rooms and Patterdale Room, where public meetings are held, were unaffected.
While the first floor remains off limits, the second floor is also being re-opened to staff.
A spokesperson for the council said: “The swift re-opening of the building is only possible because of the dedication and skill of our teams who have risen to the challenge.
“This is an initial response to get us back open and available to the public again, and we will continue to review in coming weeks as we assess the damage and schedule for repairs.
“We would like to apologise to our residents and customers for any inconvenience caused by this enforced closure but we are pleased to be able to re-open in-person services after the weekend.”
