An online information session will give people the chance to learn more about apprenticeships with Westmorland and Furness Council.
The event, taking place on Wednesday 11 February at 5.30pm, forms part of National Apprenticeship Week (9–15 February) and will provide information about local government apprenticeships.
The session will feature current apprentices and members of the Apprenticeship Team, who will share their experiences, provide an insider’s view of the council’s apprenticeship programme and answer questions about the application and recruitment process.
The event is open to anyone considering an apprenticeship, including school and college leavers, those looking for a career change and people returning to work. Parents and carers are also welcome to attend.
Apprenticeships at Westmorland and Furness Council open doors to a wide range of career paths, offering hands on learning, practical experience and the chance to contribute to services that support local communities.
The council currently has 164 apprentices working across a diverse range of roles, including highways and engineering, digital, health and social care, education, business administration, legal, finance and more. Many apprentices go on to secure permanent positions with the council, building rewarding and long term careers in local government.
Councillor Janet Battye, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Education and Skills, said:
“Apprenticeships provide a valuable route into employment, combining practical experience with recognised qualifications.
“This online event gives people the opportunity to hear directly from current apprentices, ask questions and find out more about what a career with the council could look like.”
