What is Kinship Care?
We are gathering experiences of people who are Kinship Carers, or of young people who have experienced kinship care, so we can work together to shape and improve the future for kinship carers.
- Kinship Care is where you as an adult, have looked after, or do look after a friend or relative’s child
- Perhaps you’re a grandparent, aunt, uncle, sibling, other relative or family friend caring for someone else’s child
- Or you may be a child, young person or an adult now, who has been raised by kinship carers and want to share your experience and help improve the lives of others?
We want to hear about your experiences and understand what support you need, so we can work together to shape and improve the future for kinship carers.
You can join any of the events listed below to share your views, highlight what’s working well, and help us understand what could be improved. These sessions are an opportunity to influence real change and shape the future of kinship care in our area.
- Tuesday 24th February 2026 1-3pm at Barrow Town Hall, Duke Street, LA14 2LD
- Wednesday 25th February 2026 1-3pm at Kendal Family Centre, Blackhall Road, Kendal, LA9 4BT
