A multi-million pounds road safety project on an iconic Lakeland pass will take a scheduled break to avoid any disruption during the school summer holidays.

An iconic Lakeland pass will re-open to traffic this weekend following a four week closure for essential road safety improvements.

More than 20 business leaders from Penrith and the surrounding area met together as part of a joint initiative between Westmorland and Furness Council’s Economic Development and Regeneration Team and Cumbria Chamber of Commerce. 

Westmorland & Furness Council’s Cabinet has given its unanimous backing to the Penrith Business Improvement District (BID), as local businesses take part in a ballot to secure a proposed third 5-year term for the organisation.

Growth and housing investment opportunities in the Furness peninsula and the wider Westmorland and Furness area were showcased at the House of Lords.

A new policy on the introduction of 20mph limits is to be developed to assess requests for their introduction from Westmorland and Furness communities.
