Permanent full-time Headteacher
Hours: The role is permanent full time with 0.5 FTE teaching commitment
Start date: 1st September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter
At the end of this academic year, our Headteacher is taking on a new leadership role which has opened up a unique opportunity for a leader to play a significant role in driving the continued success of our school. Asby Endowed School is not just a school, it is a community. We are looking for a confident and visible leader with a passion for education, to be able to support our vision for 5 – 11 year olds to allow them to thrive.
Our school is built on strong foundations of high standards in a nurturing environment, and these high expectations for learning are underpinned by a rich curriculum making the best of our surroundings. Our children are engaged, enthusiastic and interested in their learning and our natural environment. School harnesses this engagement and motivates children across all subjects. As a Governing Body, we are committed to finding a leader who not only upholds high educational standards but has a natural ability to develop the team around them.
We have strong support from our engaged parents and carers, as well as our “Friends of Asby Endowed School” playing an active role in the wider community, with regular events and activities taking place throughout the year. This is all part of the support network that we are very fortunate to have. This support, in addition to our dedicated and enthusiastic Governing Body, works alongside the leader to ensure that the school operates effectively by overseeing performance and providing strategic direction, to help make the school the special place that it is. We are a ‘Good’ rated Ofsted school following the latest inspection in June 2024. We would encourage applicants to read the latest report, where you will see that this role is an opportunity for an experienced leader to build on the latest inspection success and deliver the best educational experiences possible for our children.
Our current school budget is healthy but, as elsewhere, will require creativity in the future and continuing attention to excellence in education and management. We look forward to working with an innovative Headteacher to help us ensure the ongoing success of our very special village school.
Thank you once again for your interest in this role and your passion for education. You can find out more about our school on our website, together with a recruitment pack at https://www.asby.cumbria.sch.uk/vacancies and we very much look forward to hearing from you.
