Class Teacher – EYFS (Nursery & Reception)
Full-time
Fixed Term Contract: 1st September 2025 – 31st August 2026 (initially) Suitable for an ECT or early career teacher (MPR1–3)

The governors of Shap Endowed Church of England School are excited to offer a rewarding opportunity to join our small, friendly, nurturing school community. We are seeking a passionate, reflective and enthusiastic teacher to lead our well-established EYFS class, working alongside an experienced Senior Teaching Assistant who leads our Nursery provision, initially for 1 year due to pupil numbers.

We are a vibrant village school at the heart of Shap, with strong links to the church and wider community.

Our vision:
“With children and the church at the heart of the school, we are living in harmony within the community, nurturing one another to create an environment from which all can soar.”

We are proud of our happy, polite and well-mannered children, described by Ofsted (2024) as:
“Pupils are happy and enjoy each day spent in this small, friendly and nurturing school.”

We are known for providing rich personal development and learning opportunities, making full use of our large, well-resourced indoor and outdoor spaces to deliver exciting, engaging experiences.

We are looking for a teacher who:
•    Has secure knowledge and understanding of the EYFS framework
•    Is passionate about early years education and learning through play
•    Works collaboratively as part of a supportive staff team
•    May lead or champion a foundation subject (depending on experience)
•    Has high expectations for every child, nurturing each one to ‘soar’
•    Embraces and lives out our Christian ethos and values in daily practice

In return, we offer:
•    A supportive, dedicated staff team
•    A proactive, encouraging Governing Body
•    Well-behaved, enthusiastic learners
•    A welcoming, inclusive school community

Visits to the school are warmly encouraged so you can experience our special environment first hand. To arrange a visit, please contact Julie in the school office at admin@shap.cumbria.sch.uk.
