Part time Teaching Assistant 27.5hrs to start 1st September 2025

The governors at Grange C of E Primary School are seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic level 3 teaching assistant to support children with special educational needs on a 1:1 and small group basis. Grange C of E Primary School has a dedicated team of staff who are highly motivated and passionate about creating the best experiences for our pupils

This is a part time, working 27.5 hours per week, term time only.

PCD 5 £25,183 per annum pro rata £13.05 per hour for T.A. hours

The role involves working closely with class teachers and the SENCO to deliver tailored support that meets pupils’ educational, social, and emotional needs in a safe and inclusive setting.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Provide targeted support for pupils with special educational needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, particularly those with SEMH and ADHD.
•    Assist with the implementation of individual learning programmes (IEPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
•    Adapt and prepare learning materials under the direction of the teacher to ensure accessibility for all pupils.
•    Foster independence, self-regulation and positive behaviour, using strategies aligned with individual needs.
•    Contribute to regular assessment and review processes by providing observations and feedback.
•    Follow safeguarding, behaviour and health and safety policies consistently.
•    Work as part of a collaborative, supportive team and maintain strong, professional relationships with staff and families.
•    Support and foster to Christian vision and values of the school.  
Person Specification:
Essential:
•    Relevant qualifications (e.g.L3 Teaching Assistant or SEN-related training-Governors will consider L2 if the person has the required experience).
•    Experience of working with children or young people in an educational setting.
•    Understanding of a range of special educational needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language, or social and emotional needs.
•    Flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse needs of students.
•    Awareness of trauma informed practice, including principles such a safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, empowerment, and cultural consideration.
•    Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEMH needs.
•    Basic knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
•    A positive attitude.
•    Good literacy and numeracy skills.
•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
•    Commitment to promoting inclusion and equal opportunities.
•    Willingness to undertake relevant training.
Desirable:
•    Experience supporting children with SEMH needs.
•    Level 2 or 3 Qualification or equivalent
