DT Technician – Walney School

Full Time (36 hours per week), term time plus 1 week

We have an exciting opportunity for a Design & Technology Technician to join our Design and Technology team at Walney School.

Furness Education Trust is a multi-academy trust based in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria serving the Furness Community, located near the centre of the historic shipbuilding town and close to the southern boundary of the Lake District National Park. Currently comprised of seven academies including Furness Academy, Walney School and five primaries, the Trust aims to develop best practice in each school across the whole Trust, by collaborating and working together to give the best of everything to every child. Walney School is part of a growing Trust, and we are seeking new staff to join our team to provide the same high quality learning experience that has brought Furness Academy to its rising popularity.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
•    Co-ordinate use of practical resources and facilities to meet the practical needs of the Technology curriculum
•    Monitor and review health and safety procedures
•    Safe disposal of materials, including hazardous substances
•    Stock control and ordering of consumable and non-consumable materials
•    Contribute to the design, development and maintenance of specialist resources
•    Inform Head of Departments of any necessary repairs to the fabric of the department
•    Attend staff meetings as required
•    Participate in personal staff development
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
•    Educated to GCSE or equivalent essential, A Level or equivalent desirable
•    First Aid qualification desirable
•    Good understanding of Health and Safety procedures
•    Ability to prioritise and manage workload
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills
•    Ability to work in an organised and methodical way
•    Good ICT skills
•    Ability to present the Trust professionally to all external stakeholders.
