Status: Preliminary design
Funding: Local Transport Grant 2025 to 2026 and 2026 to 2027
Policy Framework: Kendal Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan
Project description
Our scheme will improve active travel on Natland Road, from the Hawes Lane junction north to Beechnut Road. It will link with the existing Active Travel route on Burton Road. We will assess options for making this connection.
The scheme will provide an active travel corridor connecting Natland residents to:
- town centre employment and retail space
- Kendal Leisure Centre
- schools
- public transport links
We developed concept designs for the route between 2022 to 2023 using grant funding from Active Travel England. We now have funding from the Government’s Local Transport Grant to produce a preliminary design. We have not yet secured funding for detailed design or to construct the scheme.
Timescales
We expect to complete the preliminary design in spring 2027.
