Background
We introduced traffic and parking restrictions in Cartmel village in October 2017. Our aim was to improve traffic flow and road safety by formalising and restricting parking arrangements in the area.
Our Highways Officers carried out an extensive review of the scheme after implementation. We received feedback about the scheme from Allithwaite and Cartmel Parish Council. We also received comments from Westmorland and Furness councillors.
Our findings and this feedback led us to propose improvements to the existing scheme. We carried out an initial consultation about the proposals in November 2023. We invited all affected stakeholders across the village to give their views on the proposals.
