Traffic Regulation Order 2024, Proposed Variation No.3 (ref 20mph/2025/Sat.Con/South Lakeland)

Proposed new and amendments to speed limits in various locations across the South Lakeland area of Westmorland and Furness, which are part of our 20mph programme.

Proposed changes

The effect of the proposed Order will be to:

  • introduce 20 miles per hour speed limits on various roads in the following areas:
    • Barbon
    • Cartmel
    • Greenodd and Penny Bridge
    • Heversham
    • Ings
    • Kendal
    • Levens
    • Milnthorpe
    • Satterthwaite
  • extend the existing 20 miles per hour speed limits on various roads in Levens
  • remove the 30 miles per hour speed limit from various roads, or sections of road, in:
    • Penny Bridge
    • Levens
    • Satterthwaite
  • introduce 30 miles per hour speed limits on various roads, or sections of road, in:
    • Cartmel
    • Penny Bridge
    • Satterthwaite

Locality Board decisions

The consultation period for this proposed TRO ended in December 2025.  We'll consider all the feedback we received and present it, along with our recommendations, to the Locality Board in January 2026.
