About the project

Together Through the Lens is a free community photography and storytelling project. It celebrates the people, places and everyday moments that make Westmorland and Furness our home.

We are inviting people from across the area to help create a unique picture of community life. By sharing photos and the stories behind them, you will become part of a collective exhibition. It will capture the experiences, perspectives and connections that shape our area.

Together Through the Lens is an opportunity to celebrate everyday life, discover the experiences of others. To create a lasting record of the people and communities that make our area unique. If it matters to you, we would love to see it.

You do not need to be a photographer to take part. If you have a phone, tablet or camera, you already have everything you need.

The Together Through the Lens project is supported and funded by the Westmorland and Furness Community Safety Partnership. Their role is to bring local organisations together to help make our communities safer, stronger and more welcoming.

This project helps support the partnership's priorities by building:

  • community pride
  • a sense of belonging
  • creating a lasting legacy through a permanent online gallery and touring exhibition resources
