The electoral register

How to be added to or view the register, and information on open and past registers.

The electoral register lists everyone in Westmorland and Furness who is registered to vote.

We use the register for electoral purposes, such as making sure only eligible people can vote, and for other limited purposes specified in law.

We process personal data in line with Data Protection legislation.

To vote in elections and have your say you must be included on the electoral register.

Add yourself to the electoral register

You can apply to be included in the electoral register at any time. To do this you will need to:

We publish an updated register on the first of every month. Once you processed, you will appear on our records on the next publication date.

Registration and your credit rating

The electoral register is used by credit reference agencies, and not being registered to vote can negatively affect your credit score. This could impact your ability to apply for loans, mortgages, credit cards, and mobile phone contracts.

If you are registered to vote and need proof for credit purposes please contact us.

Viewing the register

The full version of the register can only be viewed in-person, under supervision, at Barrow, Kendal and Penrith town halls.
