Eligible families across Westmorland and Furness are urged to sign up for the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme, running from 17 July to 3 September 2026.
Funded by the Department for Education, HAF offers free, fun activities and a healthy meal each day, with up to 16 days of sessions available for eligible children and young people aged 4–18.
Children may be eligible if they receive free school meals, have additional needs, or face other challenges such as caring responsibilities or living in more difficult circumstances.

(There’s no longer a need for HAF codes—eligibility is checked automatically when booking.)
Councillor Janet Battye Cabinet Member for Children's Services said:
“HAF is a fantastic opportunity for children to have fun, make friends and enjoy healthy meals over the summer. I’d really encourage families who may be eligible to take a look and get booked on.”
Mil Vasic, Director of Children’s Services, said:
“We know the holidays can be a challenging time for some families. HAF helps make sure children stay active, supported, and well-fed, and we’re proud to work with partners to deliver this valued programme.”
Get involved: Local partners and organisations are also asked to help spread the word by sharing information and encouraging families to book.
