Various Bridges - Eden area | Westmorland and Furness Council

Westmorland and Furness Council hereby give notice that on 16 April 2024 it made the Traffic Regulation Order under Sections 1 and 2 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The Order will come into operation on 6 May 2024 and its effect will be to:

i) Prohibit all traffic (including pedestrians and cyclists) from proceeding along the U3117 Garrigill Alston (Meadowhill Culvert);

ii) Introduce a 3 Tonnes maximum gross vehicle weight limit on the following Bridges;

a) U3149 Fothergill Bridge, near Kirkby Stephen;
b) C3032 Millhouse Wath Bridge, Millhouse;
c) U3477 Mill Bridge, Threlkeld.

iii) Introduce a 10 Tonnes maximum gross vehicle weight limit on the following Bridges: -
a) C3080 Galebars Railway No. 9 Bridge near Waitby;
b) C3047 Cliburn Mill Bridge, near Cliburn.

iv) Introduce a 13 Tonnes maximum gross vehicle weight limit on the U3290 Smardale Bridge, near Newbiggin-on-Lune;

v) Introduce a 18 Tonnes maximum gross vehicle weight limit on the following Bridges:
a) C3057 Ousenstand Bridge, near Temple Sowerby;
b) C3079 Lowmill Bridge, Hartley Road, Kirkby Stephen.

vi) Introduce a 26 Tonnes maximum gross vehicle weight limit on the A685 Roger Howe Bridge, Tebay.
