The race and route
The Tour de France is a professional stage cycling event which takes place every year, with Le Grand Départ taking place in a different country every time. It is the biggest annual sporting event in the world.
In 2027, the men’s Tour De France and the women’s Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will begin in the UK - the first time they have ever started in the same country, outside France.
It will also be the first time since the Grand Départ in Yorkshire in 2014, that cycling’s biggest race returns to Great Britain.
With six stages across two races covering Scotland, Wales and England, millions of spectators are expected to line the streets to see the world’s best cyclists in action.

The route - Stage 2
Stage One of the men's 2027 Tour de France will finish in Carlisle on Friday, 2 July, 2027.
Stage Two will start in Keswick on Saturday, 3 July, 2027, passing through Westmorland and Furness on the way to the stage finish in Liverpool.
After leaving Keswick at the start of stage 2, the riders will head over Dunmail Raise on the A591 in to Westmorland and Furness.
The route heads south passing lakes including Thirlmere, Grasmere, Rydal Water and Windermere. It will then turn on to the A5074, just beyond Bowness-on-Windermere.
Then the route goes down the Lyth Valley on to the A590 and A6. It will pass through Milnthorpe and Beetham into Lancashire, and on to the stage finish in Liverpool.
