Our 'smokefree 2030' ambition

We have an ambitious target for the Westmorland and Furness area to become smoke-free by 2030.

Approximately 11% of the population in this area smoke. We aim to reduce this to 5% by 2030.

This means around 10,000 residents need to quit smoking. We will also focus on preventing young people from starting to smoke.

The funding for our stop-smoking support comes from ring-fenced government funds specifically aimed at reducing health inequalities and smoking in England. These services are not funded by council tax.
