Who we are
Our Team of Educational Psychologists (EPs) are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Within our team we may also have Trainee, Assistant and Locum EPs who are supervised by experienced EPs. We also work alongside Behaviour, Emotional and Wellbeing Officers.
What Educational Psychologists do
The Educational Psychology Service works within Education and Inclusion, to help people solve problems and improve learning. This may be at an individual level or working on wider issues with schools/settings to help all children and young people be as successful as possible.
EPs work with children and young people in the age range 0-25. All schools have a named EP who works with them. We also work with early years settings and colleges. We often work alongside Specialist Advisory Teachers, health professionals and other services who might be involved with your child.
Services we offer
We offer the following:
- training to schools and support with council projects
- consultation with schools and early years settings
- consultation with parents and carers
- observation and assessment of groups/individuals when schools raise concerns as part of the Early Support process
- psychological advice for all Statutory Assessments (Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments) of children's special educational needs
Accessing the service
If you think it would be helpful for an EP to be involved with your child, talk to your child’s teacher, Head of Year or Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO). They will work with you to plan and review the support for your child and to complete Early Support paperwork to access the service.
