Supported internships
We have been working in partnership with local providers since 2021 to deliver Supported Internships.
The Supported Internship programme is delivered in partnership with the National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTi).
If young people are interested in applying to current Post 16 providers, they should:
- contact them via their websites
- speak with their school, college or training provider about the ‘next steps’ towards a Supported Internship
Supported Internships are transforming the employment opportunities for young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
For more information can be found at:
Westmorland and Furness National Supported Internship Day March 2026
Providers, employers and young people will take part in several events to celebrate the success of our Supported Internship programmes across Westmorland and Furness.
Take a look at the case studies to learn more about how supported internships can help young people, and if you want to be part of this for the future, speak to our providers or your school.
